Safety and Accessibility

We want you to have the best time you can. We want everyone to feel welcome and included at our tables.

Safety Tools

We use safety tools like X Cards and Lines and Veils to keep our Adventurers safe, even when their characters are in peril.

Code of Conduct

We use our Code of Conduct to guide positive and collaborative behaviour around the table and to safeguard against harm.

All Adventurers and GMs must read and agree to the Code. It is available here and as part of all adventurers’ welcome packs. The Code and our Booking Conditions empower us to limit the participation of or remove any Adventurers who fail to follow the Code.

You can report misconduct directly to our senior management at any point before, during or after an Adventure. Your report will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

Our Accessibility Process

We use the social model of disability. Where it’s within our means, we’ll adapt our Adventures to help mitigate any additional barriers you might face.

You don’t need a diagnosis to ask us how we can make our Adventure accessible for you. If we can, balancing the needs of everyone else on the Adventure, then we will.

Accessibility Conversations

We offer every customer an Accessibility Conversation when they book. We’ll have an open conversation with you, listening to your requirements, and giving you the information you need to anticipate any potential barriers. We’ll then discuss what adaptations might be possible to overcome those barriers.

If, following the conversation, you decide that we can’t make the Adventure accessible for you, we’ll give you a full refund (subject to a minimum notice period). Please see our Booking Conditions for full terms and conditions.

We are required to state whether our accommodation is “generally suitable for persons with reduced mobility”. We understand that “reduced mobility” is a huge and varied category, so please contact us directly (hello@moonshineadventure.co.uk) if you want to discuss your needs.

Adaptations

Here are some examples of adaptations we might be able make to our Adventures:

  • Allocating you a particular room where you’ll be more comfortable, or which you can access more easily.

  • Rejigging the itinerary to allow for an earlier finish or a later start.

  • Making your Game Master aware that you might need to leave the table occasionally.

  • Accommodating a personal assistant, carer or interpreter as a non-player at a reduced rate.

  • Adjusting sounds and lighting.

  • Adapting Adventure resources (for example, braille, large font or coloured paper).

  • Alternative meal arrangements.

  • Removing a minor element of an Adventure or having it happen ‘off-camera’ (see Safety Tools above).

We’re a small business and we’re always learning. If you have ideas or feedback on how we can make our Adventures more accessible, please email us at hello@moonshineadventure.co.uk.
